Members of the mango industry worked together for many years toward the creation of the National Mango Board. By 2005, the goal was reached, a referendum had passed, and USDA began collecting assessments on behalf of the industry. In January of 2006, the National Mango Board launched its first consumer and retail marketing efforts.
Our goal is simple. We seek to increase awareness and consumption of mangos through marketing, education and research programs for the benefit of the mango industry. And although the goal is simple, making it happen isn't. The NMB staff, in coordination with our agencies and vendors, is working hard for you every day. We hope you will check out all areas of this web site to learn more about the specific program and how your funds are being used to drive mango consumption.
- Assessments are collected on whole, fresh mangos at the rate of ½ cent per pound.
- Assessments on imported mangos are collected at the border via U.S. Customs. These funds are forwarded to the National Mango Board.
- Assessments on domestically grown mangos should be paid directly to the National Mango Board. Click here for the proper form and detailed instructions.
- U.S. mango industry members who grow or handle fewer than 500,000 lbs. of mangos in a particular year may be eligible for an exemption from paying assessments. In order to qualify for this exemption, you must complete the application for an Exemption Certificate. Click here for the proper form and detailed instructions.
