Here at the NMB, we have much to accomplish, with projects covering a great variety of topics. In order to spread the workload and responsibility between the Board Members, we have developed a system of committees focused on 4 key areas. This system allows us to work efficiently in smaller groups, and allows the Board Members to specialize and become very familiar with specific program areas.
Meanwhile, we use a variety of communication tools, such as Board Meetings and a monthly written report from the Executive Director to keep the entire Board up to speed with the efforts and accomplishments of the individual committees.
Industry Relations Committee
This group of Board Members is focused on how we communicate with the entire mango industry. The Industry Relations Committee oversees the nominations process, the industry section of mango.org and the Mango Connection industry newsletter. This committee is responsible for the industry outreach program, in which NMB staff and Board Members hold meetings in areas where industry members are concentrated - both in the U.S. and abroad. The goal of these meetings is to explain how the NMB works, present the programs and hear feedback directly from industry members. The Industry Relations Committee meets regularly to provide input and guidance to the NMB staff members responsible for carrying out these programs.
