Mango Hometown Tour Hartford

Enjoy Mangos Around the Clock! Mango Hometown Tour arrives in Hartford on August 26, when two star local chefs will compete in a mango taste-off. Chef Chris Torla of Trumbull Kitchen and Chef Billy Grant of Grants Restaurant have been challenged to create a mango-inspired dish highlighting late-night cuisine and Hartford flair.

Come witness the throw-down first hand. Join us at Trumbull Kitchen on Friday, August 25 at 3:30 p.m. as three local experts judge the dishes, and then guests will taste both creations for themselves. The event is free and open to a select number of Hartford mango fans!

Local grocery store favorite, Price Chopper, will be part of the action as well. Besides showcasing different varieties of mangos, they will provide consumers with resources like recipes, tips for selecting and cutting a mango, as well fresh ingredients that complement the fruit’s bright flavor.

About Chef Chris Torla

Torla graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY in 1997 and was also awarded a scholarship to the School for American Chefs at Beringer Vineyards in Napa Valley. Following graduation, Torla honed his culinary skills at restaurants across the nation, including Mustard’s and Fog City Diner in Northern California. He currently serves as executive chef and partner at Trumbull Kitchen in Hartford, CT.

About Chef Billy Grant

Grant is the owner of Restaurant Bricco, Grant's Restaurant and Bar, and his newest restaurant, Bricco Tratteria. Chef Grant recently received rave reviews from the New York Times and was one of 100 chefs who met with First Lady Michelle Obama to launch her Chefs Move to Schools program. A chef and philanthropist, Grant was voted one of Hartford’s 50 Most Influential Individuals. At Grant’s, he serves up Modern American cuisine with a menu that is constantly evolving.
