Producing and Preparing High Quality Fresh Mangos for Marketing – A Grower/Shipper/Packer/Exporter Educational Outreach Program

Objectives:

  • Provide information to mango growers, harvesters, packers and shippers to enable them to understand how the harvesting and handling practices they employ affect the quality and acceptability of their mangos in the marketplace
  • Demonstrate simple and practical quality control practices stakeholders can use in their operations to monitor the application and effectiveness of best management practices to ensure that they are maintaining the highest possible product quality and safety
  • Serve as a means to publicize the release/publication and encourage use of the National Mango Board Best Handling Practices Manual (anticipated publication in 2010)
  • Reduce postharvest losses (i.e. adjustments, claims, etc.)
